When "H", a photographer friend of mine (this lovely Mummy wishes to remain unnamed) asked me to take her maternity portraits, I was extremely nervous. Mainly because I don't generally do these types of portraits and H is a wonderful portrait photographer herself, in which she does many a Maternity session for her clients. What I didn't come to expect was just how much I would love taking these photographs. There was something so calming and wonderful about the whole experience; it was very different to the fast pace of a wedding day, which I am so used to.
I have mainly gone for black and white as it just felt right to me. I wanted them to feel natural and stripped back. I was very nervous delivering the photos, but the email I received from H was just incredible. The fact that the photos meant so much to her during this special time, was just amazing and reminded me that there are so many other important milestones in life, which should be captured on camera. I hope that H's little one will look back on these when she's all grown up and see how beautiful her Mum looked. I only wish I had some photos of my Mum when she was pregnant; she refused to let anyone take any!
H has just given birth to a little baby girl. Her third child and first daughter. I couldn't be more happy for H and her husband. Lots of love from Samuel and me. I can't wait to meet her. xx
The photo below is one of my favourites. Thank you, H, for asking me to document this special time in your life. xx
