Tania, Maxi & Alexia invited me out to Geneva to capture their family recently and it was such a pleasure to spend the day with them. The beautiful Tania is actually Andrew's sister (you may remember Vanessa & Andrew from both their wedding and family shoot in Geneva I did earlier this year). I am also going to be shooting Vanessa's sister's wedding in Geneva next year! I really have loved getting to know this wonderful family, and all of their extended family members, over the past four years.

On the day of the shoot, Geneva was experiencing a major heatwave...it reached 41 degrees and was unbearably hot; not to mention the light was very harsh and high in the sky. As a result, and in particular as there was a little one involved, we found what was probably the only shaded and sub 40 degree area in the immediate proximity to where we were! Open shade is my favourite, and the light was sublime. Following this location, lightening and thunder struck and the heavens opened! It was almost four seasons in one day. I had spotted a little location with wild flowers and tall grass (my favourite!) whilst driving by, and decided it would be perfect for some more shots once the weather dried up. Thankfully there was some cloud cover and we were able to grab five minutes of photos before the heavens opened again.

Alexia was such a trooper, as were her Mummy & Daddy; we were all pouring in sweat! We had scheduled the shoot on a date when all the grandparents were present, so it was wonderful to include some photos with them as well. I really place a lot of value on family portraits, including those with the grandparents, as it really is an extension of your wedding heirloom and will be of great importance in decades to come. It's also nice to squeeze in some portraits of Mummy & Daddy as well, as most couples haven't had any professional photos since their wedding day!

As with all my shoots, I love to combine documentary shots with natural, timeless and beautiful portraits; portraits with real emotion and meaning for my families (and wedding couples). I am so passionate about what I do, and everything I love about wedding photography has extended to my family sessions, and I really hope to develop this side of the business.

I can't thank this lovely family enough for welcoming me and inviting me to capture these memories for them. They are truly lovely people and I'm so pleased they love their photos!

Have a great week everyone. xxx
