Mel is Australian and so Mel and Martin decided to have their official wedding over in Australia. But they also decided that their celebrations wouldn't be complete without a wedding blessing over here in England for their UK family and friends. So I was lucky enough to cover their London wedding blessing! Purely by coincidence, their blessing took place about five minutes from where I live in London! Mel and Martin are two of the loveliest people and I loved spending time with them at both their wedding blessing and their engagement shoot. They are so easygoing, up for anything and lots of fun! I couldn't have had a better time with them. I actually can't believe this is my job sometimes!
They decided to have their blessing at a wonderful church on Upper Street called Union Chapel (it's actually also used as a music venue); you would never know from the outside just how massive it is on the inside! Following the blessing, guests walked up the road to Canonbury Lane for the intimate lunch reception in a quirky little bar called 25 Canonbury Lane. There was yummy home cooked food, cocktails, laughter, and great speeches. It was a fantastic afternoon and I am so pleased to have been a part of it. I am also slightly jealous that Mel and Martin got to have two weddings!
Mel and Martin, thank you for inviting me to photograph your wedding, for the delicious food (the lamb was amazing!), and for the wonderful company. I am so pleased you love your photos! xx
Meet Mel and Martin...sigh...what a gorgeous couple.
Mel got ready at the Powder Room on Columbia Road. It's such a quirky, fun little place that people kept stopping outside the window to watch Mel have her makeup done!Check out their outfits!Seeing as Mel and Martin were already officially married, they decided to get ready at their flat. Martin helped Mel into her dress!Check out this church! You can see why they also use it as a music venue. Here are Mel's parents. I got carried away chatting to them about Golden Retrievers; we are both loving owners!Mel and Martin love Union Chapel so we grabbed a few quick shots inside the church.I was very lucky to get two sessions with Mel and Martin and we had amazing light for both. I got a bit excited when I saw this beautiful light coming through the tree.Onto the bar. I loved the little plant and flower pots dotted around the bar; it worked perfectly with the shabby chic feel of the place. The little ones got happy meals from McDonalds. A few adults may have stolen some too...After the late lunch, I noticed the sun was going to set and I couldn't resist taking Mel and Martin off for some more portraits. Total naturals...This is the street where they held the blessing. Some of my favourites below. The light was golden and wonderful. What a fun day! Feel free to leave Mel and Martin some love. Have a great week everyone! x
