Tanya & James' Story | A New Year's Eve Wedding at The George in Rye

It was seriously hard to cut this one down…so many smiling faces everywhere, so much happiness, so much emotion. The perfect combination for a wonderful wedding!

This was my second time shooting at The George in Rye and it’s just as magical as I remembered. It actually lends itself beautifully to winter weddings. The perfect combination of understated elegance and cosiness, and the warmth of the venue really comes through in the winter months. I loved all the candles and warm lighting. Tanya & James held their wedding on New Year’s Eve and what a way to bring in the new year! They were beaming the whole day, clearly enjoying every minute of their day and that really is the secret to amazing wedding photos. If you’re in the moment, savouring it, forgetting about the camera, then the rest will just take care of itself. Tanya kept her dress a secret from until the last minute and I just loved the reaction of her bridesmaids. They were completely overwhelmed and it was a lovely moment to document.

I am over the moon they love their images. Upon seeing them I had this wonderful email. Thank you Tanya & James! xx

“Hi Dominique, What can we say but THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!  Rushed home from the office early to look at them together and WOW, what a magical way to brighten up our Monday. We are blown away by your storytelling and capturing so many special moments from our day. Never have I seen so many beaming faces in one album and seeing all the photos again genuinely let us re-live it. Thank you for capturing all the small moments as well as the big, you are an amazing talent and we feel so honored that you captured the day. Thank you a million times over.”

The beautiful flowers were by Rachel Grimes and hair was by Kate Beaumont. It truly was a magical day and I feel lucky to work with couples like Tanya & James.

Stefanie & Alex's Story | A Winter Elopement in London

I shot my first London elopement over 6 years ago, and ever since then, I've been lucky enough to photograph elopements every year. They are magical to document; intimate, personal, and romantic.

Stefanie & Alex may have had a bitterly cold day for their wedding, but the light was glorious. It was hazy and golden, soft and and mystical. The perfect backdrop for the day. Stefanie & Alex wanted to incorporate parts of London into their images, but not "touristy" or "typical" backdrops, so we decided on Hampstead and the Pergola Hill & Gardens. Both some of my favourite spots in London. It's always a privilege to document a couple's elopement; the only ones to witness their marriage and their first moments as husband & wife. Samuel and I were also asked to be their witnesses which is even more of a privilege. I am so grateful to Stefanie & Alex for asking me to be there on their wedding day and I am thrilled they love their photographs..."The images are beautiful and exactly what we had hoped to capture on our wedding day. We can't thank you enough for photographing and being a part of our special day...."

Hair and makeup were by the ever talented Kirsty McCall and she did an amazing job as always!

I am currently working on my favourite images of 2016 which will be coming to the blog soon. I am also looking forward to capturing my second wedding of 2017 on Saturday before a bit of time off to recuperate! xx
