Hertfordshire Family Session for Natural Portraits

As both a wedding and family photographer, what I cherish most is the opportunity to document my couples' journeys, from the moment they start their life together to their continuously growing family. It's an incredible privilege to follow their story and capture all the milestones in their lives through my photography.

I photographed Sophie and Simon’s Tuscan wedding over 10 years ago, and since then, I’ve had the pleasure of documenting their growing family.  I first captured their newborn session when their first child, Amelia, was born, and later caught up with them again during Covid to capture the four of them, now that Jasper had come along.

During their recent visit to the UK from the US, we reunited for another family photography session in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside in Berkhamsted.  As a Berkhamsted family photographer, I love combining natural, in-the-moment, heartfelt images of children just being themselves with relaxed and beautiful portraits.  I always seek to capture the essence of childhood and the unique personalities of each child, and this outdoor session was the perfect opportunity to do that for Sophie and Simon's wonderful family.

The Beauty of Outdoor Family Sessions

Outdoor locations, like this one, are ideal for allowing children to run freely in a quiet, beautiful space where they can truly be themselves, letting their wonderfully unique personalities shine. These settings also provide the perfect backdrop for golden hour photography, offering gorgeous family portraits bathed in natural light.

Capturing the Special Bond Between Siblings

In every family session, I make it a priority to naturally incorporate sibling photography. There’s something incredibly special about capturing the bond between siblings—the way they interact with each other through play, the older sibling’s natural protectiveness, and the moments of shared laughter. These interactions tell a beautiful story of their relationship, one that evolves as they grow.

Photographing siblings is about more than just posing them together; it’s about allowing them to be themselves, whether they’re playing, exploring, or simply sharing a quiet moment. These photos capture the essence of their bond and become treasured memories for years to come.

If you're in Berkhamsted, St. Albans, Hemel Hempstead, or London and looking for a family photographer to capture the essence of your family in a relaxed and natural setting, I'd be thrilled to help tell your story. Get in touch and let's discuss how we can create beautiful family portraits together.
